There's Just Something about that Name

Happy Sunday!!


I hope you all have had a great week. Ours has been very full as we celebrated the home going of one of my uncles. I'm so thankful to be part of a family who loves the Lord and loves one another. It's a blessing beyond words. He was a faithful man of God who enjoyed music and passed so much on to my Mom and to me.


My Mom is doing fairly well, but as with last week, still struggling with so much fatigue and weakness. Cancer is just a brutal disease, especially glioblastoma. There are many changes... many difficult moments and decisions. Watching my Mom go through this process is hard. Singing is not always easy for her right now, yet she still is ready to sing.


I could spend a lot of time talking about all of those hard things. Yet, I have discovered in the midst so much uncertainty there is one thing I can control.... my focus. Such a valuable lesson. The question I have to constantly ask myself... What am I focusing on??? If I focus on the circumsantces despair is sure to follow. If I fix my eyes on Jesus my heart is filled with peace, even in the midst of sorrow. It's not always easy and it certainly doesn't come naturally. Yet, it is a discipline I believe He wants us to keep practicing. Love these verses...


4Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! 5Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. 6Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus........
12I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. 13I can do all this through him who gives me strength. -Philippians 4:4-7, 12-13

I do believe the difficult days we face can be the catalyst for contentment!! And don't we all want that?! I have to remind myself...Be thankful for today!!! There is always something to be thankful for! Some things I am thankful for this week:


-Getting to hold my sweet little great niece. There is something so wonderful about the gift of a new life.


-My Mom and I developed a new game....every ding I make with her wheelchair is minus one. If I pass through a doorframe a make a little bump... minus one. Those tight turns aren't easy!!! It's a little thing but makes us laugh. All I can say is I'M TRYING MY BEST!!! hahaha.


-Watching my beautiful daughter tell my Mom a bedtime story with giggles and silliness. Then she exclaimed, "Let's snuggle!!!" Those two are a mess!!!


-Friends who have cared so well for our family... from entertaining my kids to bringing us over the top meals. What a blessing!!


-A snowcone run to Tropical Sno. One of my kids wanted the colossal and of course Nanny said YES.


-Getting to see so many of you at my uncles services. The blessing of lifelong friendships is amazing.


SO many blessings to focus on. This week we want to share some songs about where our focus should be... JESUS. There is one line that I keep singing over and over...


"Kings and kingdoms will all pass away but there's something about that Name...."

What hope for today!! We live in uncertain times and yet we can have a confident foundation no matter what is going on around us. We pray that these songs might be a blessing to you as we shift our focus from the ever changing things of earth to the One who never changes...the One who hold ALL things together....who holds US together!!! JESUS.
