Scripture Song // Psalm 139:16

This morning I was getting our kids ready for school and glanced down at my youngest’s memory verse for the week. Music helps me memorize, so I thought of a quick tune to help him.

I sat down to play the tune, and I thought about what day this is... It’s my Mom’s birthday. What a comfort this verse is, especially today.

My Mom was unexpectedly diagnosed with brain cancer, and a short time later, she finished her race here on earth. I am comforted to know that GOD KNOWS the number of our days! He is not surprised but completely in control. And my Mom got to finish her race at full steam... stepping across the finish line with gusto as she lived out her faith daily.

A favorite quote:

“I am immortal until God’s work for me to do is done.” — Henry Martyn

"All the days ordained for me were written in Your book before one of them came to be. Psalm 139:16

Below is a simple tune to memorize this verse! Maybe you can memorize and meditate along with me this week!

Sarah, you radiate the same joy your mom always did! When I listen to you sing and speak I know Nancy passed down her love for Jesus and the joy she found in knowing she was held safe in His hands. I know days can be long and difficult and joy isn’t always what you feel. Praise the Lord He doesn’t love us only on the days we feel it or have the energy or even the desire to express it. Rather he gives us joy greater than our sorrows and tells us “The joy of the Lord is our strength”- another verse I know because your mom taught it to me in song!!!
