I Am With You

Hello again! Today I want to share another song in honor of my Mom. I grew up watching her lead numerous children’s choirs and productions at our church. She had a passion for passing on music (and her faith!) to the next generation.

She also enjoyed writing songs and teaching them to the kids. Simple tunes that would provide truth. This is one of my favorites. Written in call and echo form - it’s easy to learn and a song that sticks with you.

I can remember my Mom singing this to me when I was young. She would remind me that I was never alone! Such a simple and profound truth.

Deuteronomy 31:8: "He will be with you; he will not leave you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed"

Joshua 1:9: "For the LORD your God is with you wherever you go". 

Matthew 28:20: "I am with you always, even to the end of the age".

Isaiah 41:10: "Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand."

I was hoping to find a recording of her singing it but instead found this short little clip of "Nanny" and my youngest son. This was filmed right after her brain biopsy (you can still see the bandaid). At this point we were waiting to hear the results but after the initial CAT scan I already knew in my heart we didn't have long. I wanted to capture as MANY vidoes and pictures with my Mom as I could. So thankful that I did. And I'm also amazed that she was up singing right after the biopsy!! If you know my Mom you are not suprised!

So you can hear the full version the other day I asked my son if he would sing along - for Nanny. He sweetly said sure. I hit record - and made me smile when he proclaims…. “For God and Nanny.” HA! Sweet boy. I hope you enjoy my Mom’s song - “I Am With You!” And I hope no matter what you are facing today you know you are not alone and He is right there with you!
